Holograms

this was not an ad, but it could be in the very near future. hologram projections have taken massive leaps in its technology advancement – imagine spiderman swinging from building to building to promote Spiderman 4 next time. :)

Australia’s Target Toy Sale

talk about live action advertising!

click on the image to see the enlarged version.

“To promote Australia’s biggest Toy Sale, we dressed up actors as ‘big toys’ and attached oversized hands to their costumes. Once the ‘big toys’ started performing, it created the illusion that the hands were actually playing with them.”

Samsung Ultra Edition

seriously, how cool is this? ;) love ads which make me wonder about the execution.

From advertising for peanuts,

“To illustrate the slim micro-ness of Samsung’s new phones, they filmed a slow motion, miniature pie fight vs. insects. And, somehow, seeing a banana cream pie catapult into the face of bee is strangely beautiful. The video is titled “Millimetres Matters” and directs you to a website. It’s kind of an odd way of talking about small phones – but odd seems to be what makes a lot of things go viral these days. So, who knows, it just might work.”

And from the website,

“NO INSECTS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF MILLIMETRES MATTER BUT SOME DID GET A LITTLE STICKY… ACTUALLY, THEY SEEMED QUITE HAPPY TO HELP CLEAN UP – BY EATING UP THE SUGARY MESS!

OUR ULTRA II RANGE OF PHONES ARE INCREDIBLY SLIM AND STYLISH. IN FACT, THE ULTRA II U100 MODEL IS THE SLIMMEST IN THE WORLD AT 5.9MM, BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT “MILLIMETRES MATTER”.”

that’s basically what you’ll see at the website for 15 seconds before being directed automatically to their product website which has no link to the video that they’ve done. pity pity. i was hoping the Millimetres Matters website will have more stuff to play with!

but still, i love the video!

Visa

From Marketing Magazine:

“Hong Kong – Visa International has launched a TVC starring movie star Jackie Chan in the first part of a 16-month Olympic themed marketing campaign in the lead-up to the 2008 Games in Beijing and Hong Kong.

The campaign aims to promote Visa’s status as worldwide sponsor and partner of the 2008 Olympic Games.

“The new commercial is part of our continued campaign in raising consumers’ awareness on Visa as the official payment partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and shows that with Visa they can be part of this important event. With Hong Kong being the venue for the Equestrian events of the 2008 Olympics, Jackie Chan’s image as an international movie star from Hong Kong helps promote the city’s significance in the 2008 Games,” James Dixon, country manager of Hong Kong and Macau for Visa International said.

The 60-second commercial created by Visa and BBDO depicts Jackie Chan as a comic hero eager to participate in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It features Chan participating in several Olympic sports to make it to the Games before eventually discovering the easier way is through his Visa card. Chinese basketballer Yao Ming also guest stars in the commercial.

The new TVC, which launched on 3 May, is also aired in China, Australia and Thailand with plans to run in other markets in the Asia Pacific region.”

i thought this ad was really funny and it’s another great effort by BBDO after the Richard Gere ad.
